Public Cloud Services and Management

OVERVIEW

With the emerging need for digital transformation and ESG, enterprises have increased public cloud adoption, increasing the demand for public cloud services and management relatively grown. Chunghwa Telecom Labs has been dedicated in cloud computing area for over a decade and is committed to developing public cloud management technology, such as multiple data center management, resource pool management, and automatic service provisioning. We provide customers with in-house public and virtual private cloud services, known as hicloud, which enables enterprises to quickly adopt public clouds, driving the transformation of the domestic cloud industry. Moreover, we also focus on developing a Cloud Management Platform for managed service providers to help them streamline cloud financial management and enable faster product delivery.

APPLICATION STATUS

Cloud BSS/OSS:By developing configuration management, service specification design and onboard, order fulfillment and service provisioning, resource and service monitoring, and metering and usage of public cloud resources, hicloud CaaS and CVPC provide customers with complete cloud lifecycle management, on-demand self-service, and pay-as-you-go pricing model. In the 2021 Co-Supply Contract Cloud Service Evaluation by the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, hicloud was once again selected as first place in the cloud virtual resource category, winning the honor for seven consecutive years. In addition, we are certified to ISO 27001, ISO 27011, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, and CSA STAR.
Cloud Managed Services:We develop cloud cost and operations technologies, including billing management, cost control and optimization, budget alerts, intelligent anomaly detection, multi-cloud monitoring, asset management, and policy management. By incorporating these technologies into a multi-cloud management platform, we help customers ease the management of cloud assets and enable them to optimize costs across multiple public clouds, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. The platform allows us to obtain AWS/Azure MSP certificates and provide managed services for our customers. These technologies are also applied to our multi-cloud SaaS to meet the needs of cloud resellers, enterprises, IT departments, and oversea businesses.
IT Service Management:Following the best practices from ITIL, we develop and seamlessly integrate IT service management technologies such as incident management, event management, and knowledge base to improve the efficiency and performance of IT services. We bring these technologies into our public cloud services to streamline operations and deliver better service quality through standardized and systematic processes.
Cloud Storage:We have developed an object storage infrastructure that supports industry-standard S3 APIs, flat file system (bucket and object), permission management (ACL, Policy, IAM), data management (logging, data split and merge), data lifecycle transition, replication, check and repair, and other essential technologies for building large-scale and data-intensive applications. We have also developed hierarchical storage to meet different needs, such as cold and infrequent access storage. Using these technologies, our product, hicloud S3, has been adopted and trusted by many influential enterprise customers and government agencies. We also use these unique technologies to help well-known NGO preserve precious Taiwan images for the next generations. In addition, we have integrated international public cloud storage to help enhance the government digital resilience by providing a data encryption splitting and distributed backup mechanism.
