Overview

With the advent of 5G-IOT network, mobile management and maintenance technology, such as provision automation, expertise and intelligence, has become important issues for modern telecom operators and will play an significant roll of driving the innovation of 5G diversified applications. Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories has introduced new technologies, such as AI and ML algorithms, real-time monitoring, and network function virtualization to construct a new mobile network management solution. It not only provides analysis tool to address network performance and hardware issue, but also improve customer experience and enhance network quality.

MOBILE NETWORK OPERATIONS SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY

Application Status

Mobile Network End-to-End Monitoring technology :In response to the rapid evolution of mobile network technology, Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories develop a new centralized end-to-end operation support system for mobile network, which is integrated with 4G/5G base stations and core network equipment. It offers best-in-class applications for seamless daily network operations, including real-time detection of equipment obstacles, provides early warning of performance deterioration, and can quickly grasps service bottleneck by visualizing the network topology. With the assistance of the system, the Network Technology Group has won the first place in the NCC network speed rating for many consecutive years.
Application of AI to Mobile Network Operation:With the introduction of network virtualization in 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is expected to solve human resource shortages for the network operation workload. Therefore, Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories is working toward the application of AI to network operation to improve the efficiency of mobile network operation, such as prediction of 4G/5G cellular degradation, 4G/5G energy management, customer complain management. Our goal is to show good prospects for AI-driven network operation.
Network Slice Management and Orchestration:Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories dedicate to network slice orchestration research and development to provide flexible deployment and management capability for various 5G slice requirements. Through network slice subnet automatic provision technique, we fulfil the vision of: automatic configuration, rapid provision and dynamic adjustment, which support business and operation policy. By the evolution of building on-demand and closed-loop automation network management functions, we could accelerate ever-changing applications realization in next era.
Mobile Network Control Plane and User Plane Message Analysis Techniques:Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories develops the mobile network control plane and user plane analysis system independently which provides dozens of expert analysis and statistical functions for mobile network, Internet of Things, international roaming network of 4G/5G and so on to continuously optimize network quality. In addition to the above functions, this system also provides multiple applications including technological prevention of Covid-19, advertising push…etc. In all these functions, the innovative function of IoT monitoring has won the silver medal at the " 2020 Taiwan Innotech Expo".
