OPEN NETWORK ARCHITECTURE

Overview

In order to achieve the goal of network openness, TL researches on the open network infrastructure technology and hope to deploy in the field. Especially, we investigate on new generation transmission networks and key technologies for open network construction that will gradually attain the goal of the all-photonic network, equipment openness and interoperability. TL dives on research of open optical network. The near-term objective is to establish an open network test platform, and to carry out the related testing and validation regarding open network infrastructure. While the midterm and long-term goals are to propose the requirements and specifications about white box telecom equipment, and also propose outcomes to the International Standards Organization to help evolve towards software-defined and fixed-mobile convergence network.

Application Status

Interoperability of disaggregated network equipment:Cooperating with optical transmission equipment manufacturers to conduct interoperability verification towards openness of the optical line system.
The standardized open interfaces for optical network:To investigate a T-SDN controller to construct a hybrid network, to allocate photonic network resources dynamically and to control and manage the third-party equipment.
The control and management techniques for All-Photonic Network:Designing the structure and functions of an All-Photonic Controller which can control and manage multiple photonic network equipment. Also propose technical contributions to IOWN GF.
The performance monitoring techniques for All-Photonic Network:Techniques include designing the performance monitoring mechanism and architecture of All-Photonic Network, building up an experimental platform to do research on the operations and accuracy of parameters, and establishing the standard specifications by joining IOWN GF.
